The decline of the pangolin is staggering. Virtually exterminated from all over Asia, it still survives in Africa. But the Asian market demands ever increasing quantities, the value of its scales reaching disproportionate prices. A new symbol of human greed, the animal will not last long. Despite this dire fate, Tessa wants to believe in another future for the pangolin. She joined forces with the Aka pygmies in the great forest of the Congo Basin to come to the aid of this endearing animal, the last vestige of prehistoric times.

Lorane is a young scientist dedicated to building shelters in the Franco-Swiss mountains for orphaned baby lynx, one of Europe's last great feline species and predators. Lynx are critical to the preservation and growth of Europe's habitats, playing a key role in the wider eco-system. Lorane's passion and commitment to save every last lynx teaches valuable lessons about how animals and humans can learn to live side by side.

On the island of Malapascua in the Philippines, Anna Oposa and her team are working with local fisherman to create a nature reserve where thresher sharks can thrive. These sharks are famous for their long tails which they use to whip and stun their prey. Every day, pelagic thresher sharks head to Monad Shoal, a sunken island just off the coast of Malapascua, where other fish “clean” them of their external parasites. This remarkable sight is popular with divers but the numbers of thresher sharks are dwindling and Anna is spearheading the campaign to protect this incredible species in the Philippines.
