Detective Kyung rushes to Seoul after discovering that Ha-eun is actually Kang-hyuk, the son of his senior whom he had believed dead, but is targeted in a brutal attack by Dong-chan's group. As Ha-eun faces a sudden arrest warrant, he sets out for Gangwon Province to find a key witness who holds the truth.
Ha-eun struggles with haunting dreams and unresolved emotions as he grows closer to Eun-ha. Refusing to close the case, he finds flaws in the suspect's alibi while his partner seeks a crucial witness who may reveal the truth.

To help Cho Rim remember, Moo Gak tries to make a composite sketch of the woman's face who flashed across Cho Rim's mind. Meanwhile, Jae Hee hires a private investigator to trace Eun Seol's past.
Lt. Yeom tells a shocked Cho Rim that Moo Gak was assaulted and saw the culprit's face before falling into a coma. Jae Hee tries, but can't grasp Dr. Chun's message. To find out Moo Gak's state, Jae Hee tells Cho Rim he will go to the hospital with her.
Moo Gak finds the Frog Troupe leader after hearing he told Cho Rim, now only staff support, that she doesn't have the confidence or humor to go on stage. Cho Rim cries from humiliation and Moo Gak tells her they can do comedy and investigations together.

Just after arriving to the restaurant, Moo Gak and the other detectives witness a man falling from the rooftop. Moo Gak discovers Jae Hee looking down from there. Jae Hee, who has no time to make excuses, is arrested for being caught red-handed.
When Moo Gak asks the troupe leader to take Cho Rim back, he's ordered to make him laugh. Meanwhile, a body with an engraved barcode is found at the park, breaking the chain-murder pattern and creates chaos within the special investigation team.
Mi Young decides to stay by Gun's side and meets with Chairwoman Wang. Gun announces he will step down in three months, with the chairwoman filling in during his absence. Yong's mom hands Gun a mysterious diary.
Mi Young decides to leave Korea right away, but news that Gun has been alone for three years weighs on her mind. Daniel is thrown when he hears Gun has a hereditary illness, and Se Ra seeks out Mi Young again.
Gun provides wholehearted support for the collaboration, while Mi Young grows uncomfortable with his constant presence at her side. Se Ra becomes increasingly uneasy about Mi Young's return.
Chairwoman Wang sounds Mi Young out about reconciling with Gun, but Mi Young is resolute. Gun, as usual, visits Mi Young's mother's restaurant and runs into Mi Young there she asks him not to come anymore. Later, Mi Young is selected as the artist for Jangin Chemicals' ad-image collaboration project.
Daniel finally finds the younger sister he has been searching for, and Gun is crestfallen to hear Mi Young plans to return to France. Yong suggests recruiting a female artist as a key strategic move for the company—and recommends Mi Young—but she turns Gun's business proposal down. Meanwhile, Daniel formally proposes to Mi Young.
Mi Young makes a successful exhibition debut with Daniel, and when Gun sees them together, jealousy flares. Chairwoman Wang is still pulling every string to get Gun married, but it isn't easy Se Ra is bitter about their lack of progress. Meanwhile, Mi Young runs into Gun outside her hotel room.
Gun shows Mi Young around his office, but Se Ra's unexpected arrival flusters him. He tries to tell Se Ra about his marriage, but Mi Young stops him.
Gun grows uneasy about Daniel's presence, and Mi Young tries to keep her distance from Gun. Mi Ja arrives in Seoul with Mr. Choi and goes out with Mi Young upon hearing Gun sold the Yeo-ul Island factory, she's furious. Meanwhile, Gun suggests that he and Mi Young start sharing a room.
