When Mark finally gets the chance to take the stage as a stand-up comedian, he realizes he doesn't have his own distinct voice. And so, Mark draws inspiration from those who matter the most to him.
Gerry's blown away when he lays eyes on the new hot substitute teacher, Mary. Conveniently forgetting that he's technically married, he vows to woo her. But to his shock and horror, Gerry sees a second hot sub, Shane, who appears to be his fiercest competitor for Mary's affection. Gerry tasks Simon with keep hot sub Shane away from hot sub Mary, until Gerry can lock that down. Simon assures Gerry that he's on it, but finds the mission interfering with his five-month anniversary plans with Nisha. Bobbi has been having trouble with foul-mouthed and disruptive Alex. Taking Dwyer's advice, she sets out to change his attitude through positive reinforcement.
Lisa starts a friendly ‘Teacher of the Month' competition and it's no surprise when Mr. Dwyer wins the first one. Gerry feels slighted and is determined to find a way to earn next month's title. When word gets out that a lurker has been spotted in the neighbourhood, Gerry sets out to catch him. Of course, catching a lurker is no small feat and Gerry must use some rather unconventional tactics if he's to succeed. Meanwhile, Robert has been working on an art installation made up of photos of Xavier's staff and students. Bobbi is upset to find she has seemingly been excluded from the project and confronts him about his unresolved feelings for her. At the same time, an unexpected feud develops between Dwyer and Nisha when they discover that they've been using the same catchphrase. After all, “Every day's a holiday” can only belong to one.
Gerry volunteers to cover Simon's girls' volleyball team, assuring Bobbi that he won't ruin their playoff run. But when Bill reminds him of their friend's wedding on Saturday, Gerry's afraid he'll miss his shot with Suzie the bridesmaid. He sets out to do the only right thing: throw the first game, thereby freeing up his Saturday. Meanwhile, staff and students are finding they don't have enough time between classes to get all the way across the school, so Robert devises a plan to get everybody moving through the hallways more quickly. When Trudy learns she has an allergy to soy nuts, Lisa insists she provide a photo for Xavier's Allergy Wall, in the event of an emergency.
