เรื่องราวดำเนินตามโชคชะตาของสาวน้อย เอลล่า ลูกสาวของพ่อค้าที่แต่งงานใหม่หลังจากคุณแม่เธอเสียชีวิต ด้วยความที่ต้องการสนับสนุนบิดาผู้เป็นที่รัก เอลล่าต้อนรับ แม่เลี้ยงคนใหม่ และลูกสาวทั้งสองของเธอ อนาสเทเชีย และ ดริเซลล่า สู่บ้านของครอบครัว แต่เมื่อคุณพ่อของเอลล่าได้จากไปอย่างไม่คาดคิด เธอก็รู้ตัวว่ากำลังตกอยู่ภายใต้ความอนุเคราะห์ของครอบครัวใหม่ขี้อิจฉาและร้ายกาจ ซินเดอเรลล่าเอลล่าเริ่มหมดหวังไปเรื่อยๆ และเมื่อเธอได้พบกับชายแปลกหน้ารูปงามในป่า โดยที่เธอไม่รู้ว่าแท้จริงแล้วเขาคือเจ้าชาย คิดว่าเป็นเพียงเจ้าหน้าที่ในวังเท่านั้น ในที่สุดเธอก็ได้รู้สึกว่าได้พบกับผู้ที่มีจิตใจอันอ่อนโยนจริงๆ เข้าแล้ว ดูเหมือนว่าโชคชะตาชีวิตของเธอกำลังจะเปลี่ยนไป เมื่อพระราชวังประกาศเชิญหญิงสาวทั่วเมืองมาร่วมงานเต้นรำ แต่แล้วแม่เลี้ยงของเธอกลับสั่งห้ามเธอไปร่วมงานและฉีกทำลายชุดของเธอ แต่เช่นเดียวกับในเทพนิยายดีๆ เรื่องอื่นๆ ความช่วยเหลือมาถูกเวลาเสมอ และ นางฟ้าแม่ทูนหัว ก็ได้ปรากฎตัวขึ้น พร้อมกับฟักทองและหนู 2-3 ตัว ที่จะเปลี่ยนชีวิตของซินเดอเรลล่าไปตลอดกาล
