For many eSNa might not be the first musician that comes to mind when thinking of Korean pop music. However she's actually a big name in the music scene with numerous hit songs under her belt. The list includes “Some” by SoYou and Junggigo “Without You” by Mad Clown “Piano Man” and “AHH OOP” by MAMAMOO and more. In 2014 she made her debut as a singer as well with the song “I I Love You“ and has participated in various soundtracks for TV series since then including ”The Heirs“ and ”Hogu's Love.“ In January this year this talented artist kicked off a remake project called “Nostalgia Project” which is an English version of Korean pop masterpieces that were released before K-pop became an international sensation. Composed of vocalist Joo Sung-geun and guitarist Oh Ji-hyun this band made their debut in April 2017 with the EP “DEAR : X.” Then they performed all the songs in their debut EP in Seoul Forest in the form of busking to engrave their name in the minds of the public. Thanks to their hard work and stunning musicality they won the Gold Prize at the 2017 Shinhan Card Rookie with the lead single off the debut EP “Draw the Line.” In December last year the duo released their third EP “naps!” to comfort our souls. Also the two have been participating in various soundtracks from TV series to variety shows to adverts actively expanding their reach in the entertainment industry. Joining us on this week's I'm LIVE are four guys performing under the slogan of “chaotic world warm music” - it's Nerd Connection! This band is composed of four graduates of Yonsei University one of the most prestigious universities in Korea. The beginning was almost accidental - Vocalist Seo Yeong-ju and guitarist Choi Seung-won began performing together in 2012 as part of the university's rock band club Medusa. Then bassist Park Jae-hyun and drummer Shin Yeon-tae joined the band and they made their step into the professional music scene with their first single Hymn of the Birds in 2018. The same year they took part in the Emergenza Festival the world's largest festival for unsigned bands. After several regional qualifiers in Korea they passed the Korean qualification which led to the finals at a festival in Germany. With that unbelievable milestone at the very beginning stages of their career the four have pleasantly surprised listeners both at home and abroad until now. In October this year Nerd Connection released their first full-length album. All 12 songs in the album are tied under the concept of nostalgia for things gone by touching listeners in their unique way. Younha began her career in 2003 in Japan with her first single “ゆびきり.” Then she found mainstream success the following year with her second Japanese single “ほうき星 (Comet)” which was included on the soundtrack of the anime series “Bleach.” The song peaked on the Oricon Chart at #15 giving her the nickname of the “Oricon Comet.” Her success in the island country led to her debut in Korea as well she debuted in Korea in 2016 where she is regarded as one of the country's best singer-songwriters. From “Waiting” to “Password 486” Younha has many hit songs under her belt. She has also collaborated with numerous A-list musicians including Toy and Epik High. In November last year Younha released her sixth full-length album “END THEORY” to once again prove how versatile of a musician she is. From rock to ballad music she covered various genres in the album and the album's lead single “Stardust” was chosen as one of Billboard's Best K-pop Songs of the Year.
