These sharks are famous for their long tails which they use to whip and stun their prey. Every day, pelagic thresher sharks head to Monad Shoal, a sunken island just off the coast of Malapascua, where other fish “clean” them of their external parasites. This remarkable sight is popular with divers but the numbers of thresher sharks are dwindling and Anna is spearheading the campaign to protect this incredible species in the Philippines.
