Mark's first day of grade six goes awry when a family of bullies take a special interest in making his life miserable. But when Mark stands up for himself and takes a shot at one of the bullies – a young girl named Fox – he learns that words can hurt a lot more than fists.

Meanwhile, Nisha has a big question to ask Simon's mom, but Angela's response catches her off guard, and the intensity of marrying someone you work with starts to dawn on a concerned Bobbi.
When Gerry realizes how poorly he's been taking care of himself, he adopts Dwyer's strict diet. However, diets require the kind of discipline Gerry lacks, so he decides that if he has to suffer, the entire school has to suffer with him. Meanwhile, Nisha plans a group outing to an Escape Room, but doesn't get the turnout she was hoping for, and Robert informs Trudy that, believe it or not, some staff members have complained about her attitude, and she needs to work on it.
Appa worries about Umma after a minor household accident. Janet uses Jung's past to boost her reputation with students. A high school reunion has Kimchee thinking about an old flame.
Appa and Kimchee enjoy an impromptu hangout together. Janet and Umma find an envelope of money in the store. Jung and Shannon struggle to watch TV together.
Appa finds marijuana in the house. Shannon throws a staff party that doesn't go as planned.

When Gerry's almost injured in a staffroom incident, he's disappointed to realize the staff's indifference over his near-death experience. When Emma tries to convince him he's overreacting, Gerry sets out to prove how little anyone cares about him, leading to a return from Xavier's former security guard, Ron. Meanwhile, Donna and Dwyer's relationship is really starting to feel the effects of her being a prison inmate, and Dave tries to handle Frank's increasingly challenging requests as delicately as possible.
Gerry is approached by a producer who wants to use Xavier as a backdrop for a movie, but he gets too caught up in the details to see the big picture. Meanwhile, Lisa struggles to find her way as a guidance counselor when Lucy skips her session to get outside advice, while Emma and Nisha deal with the repercussions of going to a magic show together.
