Kisan draws his sword on Lee Rin, accusing him of lying about his ability to see ghosts. Meanwhile, Sadam identifies Do Ha as a shaman of the Hae-wol, Hae-il, and Hae-si, and brings her before Kisan.

While trying to save 'Yeon Ha', the only Mago tribeswoman who can bloom the flower, Haejong is ensnared by Sadam's magic. Succumbing to madness, King Haejong brings great tragedy to the palace.
Meteorites fall on Hanyang, breaking the palace's barrier and allowing ghosts (gwimul) to invade. They attack Prince Lee Rin, who falls mysteriously ill. King Haejong learns the only cure is the 'Millennium Flower' and departs for Mount Baekdu to find it.
Keutbong dies in Eopbok's arms. Eopbok is furious over the unknown man's betrayal and seeks revenge.
During the commotion over the Seonhyecheong battle, Daegil and Taeha hide in the tavern. They decide to use Daegil as bait to escape Hanyang and get on a boat with the envoy from Qing.
Daegil gets hanged. He slowly dies as he thinks about Eonnyeon. Meanwhile, General Choi and Wangson hide in Slanted Ear's village.
Daegil and Taeha learn from Cheolung's torture that it was Cheolung who attacked General Choi, Wangson, and Taeha's men.
After eliminating the rest of Taeha and Jo's gang, Hwang Cheolung goes after Jo.

Daegil, Taeha, Cheolung, Baekho, and Yunji cross each other in downtown Chungju. Amidst the Chaos, Daegil catches a glimpse of Hyewon and gets stabbed by Cheolung while in a state of shock.
Hyewon a former slave tries to leave Taeha when she learns that the slave chasers are after him. Daegil studies the records and goes to Chungju because that's where Taeha's teacher Im Yeongho resides.
Taeha's teacher Im Yeongho waits for Taeha as he gives an order to Jo, who is his confidant. Hanseok, who was enticed by Lee Gyeongsik to betray Taeha, is now watching the royal grandson in Jeju as a guard.

Jeongi then pleads with Gwanghae to delay Gangcheon's arrest just a little longer. Confronting Gangcheon herself, Jeongi is devastated once more when he coldly declares that Yukdo is the only bloodline he acknowledges. Claiming he wishes to atone, Gangcheon summons Jeongi to Euldam's grave.
