Riding their dirt bikes, Zane and Nate stop in a trailer park to look at a classic Harley. Nate steals a badge from the bike and Zane is busted by the owner - little does he know it's Rikki's dad. Later, embarrassed by her family's financial situation, Rikki hides where she really lives from Zane. Rikki has to overcome her shame about her background and introduce her dad to Zane.
Cleo has been getting into some trouble with her boss Mrs Geddes at work and when Ronnie the dolphin splashes her, Cleo laughs and is fired. At the same time, Lewis finds himself in desperate need of a job after his laptop dies and, unbeknownst to him, he is offered Cleo's old job. In the aftermath of a violent storm, Dolphin City looks like a new Bermuda Triangle: boats mysteriously break down or sink in the bay. At the sight of hordes of journalists, the girls investigate, with Lewis' help. They find out that a lightning bolt from the storm has activated mysterious crystals whose magnetic field disrupts navigation equipment.
More and more plastic bags are polluting Dolphin City Bay, and the turtles mistake the bags for sea-sponges and suffocate on them. Our three mermaids, alerted by their friend Teddy the turtle, tackle the problem. After some unsuccessful attempts, they and Lewis decide to use stronger methods to stir up public opinion.
Rikki gains an admirer in Emma's younger brother Elliot when she saves him from drowning. She lets him down hard causing him to run away and hide in the fernery. The girls find him just as the watering system is about to start.
Kim reads Cleo's diary and finds evidence of mermaidness. She spies on the girls and decides Miriam is the head mermaid. Miriam and Cleo enter the Queen of the Sea contest where Kim tries to prove her theory but only succeeds in upsetting Miriam.
Maddy's got her exams coming up, but she isn't feeling very well and is grouchy - her first change is coming... Tom reminds her she forgot to help him with his English revision for the exam tomorrow and she promises to make it up to him at break but at break she is struggling pre-change and Rhydian takes her for a run to blow off steam.
It's the school art exhibition and the theme is family. Rhydian puts up a picture of a lonely boy, with silhouettes of parents in the distant background. He storms out when the 3 Ks comment on it. Tom has put up loads of pictures of him and his dad at football matches, he is excited that his dad is coming to the exhibition.
Maddy's mum Emma is worried about Rhydian growing up in care, with no wolfblood support. She wants to invite him around for dinner to teach him about wolfblood ways and how they fit into human society. Shannon has proof at last! She has a photo of a wolf and puts posters up of it all over the school.
A girl is home alone on a full moon when she hears a noise outside... She bravely goes to see what it is and is confronted by two wolves escaping from INSIDE her house! She controls them back into the cellar - her eyes flashing golden - who is this girl? She's Maddy Smith and she's a wolfblood. Maddy meets her friends Tom and Shannon at school.
