As Skyler (Anna Gunn) pressures Ted to accept her money to pay his taxes, Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) insists that Jesse resume working in the lab alone. But when Jesse (Aaron Paul) insists that his partner's life be spared, Walt (Bryan Cranston) is forced to take drastic measures to save his family from Gus's deadly threats.
As Walt (Bryan Cranston) is recovering from their fight, Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) takes Jesse (Aaron Paul) to Mexico to seal his deal with the cartel. But as Gus unleashes his own deadly plan to retain control of his drug empire, Skyler (Anna Gunn) worries when her ex-boss Ted Beneke (Christopher Cousins) balks at using his unexpected “inheritance” to pay his back taxes.
As Walt (Bryan Cranston) struggles to subvert Hank's (Dean Norris) homegrown investigation into the Albuquerque meth business, a deadly warning forces Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) to consider a deal with the Mexican cartel. Meanwhile, Skyler's (Anna Gunn) plans to run a legitimate business are stalled when her former boss is charged with tax evasion.
As Hank (Dean Norris) produces evidence that Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) is Albuquerque's meth kingpin, Walt (Bryan Cranston) worries that both he and Jesse (Aaron Paul) are going to be killed to protect their boss. Meanwhile, after refusing the Mexican cartel's demand to stop his drug trade, Gus returns to his roots as he fights back.
Upset at being ordered to return the car he bought for their son, Walt (Bryan Cranston) strikes back by placing Skyler (Anna Gunn) in a difficult spot with their new money laundering operation. And as Walt looks to protect himself by getting rid of Gus (Giancarlo Esposito), Jesse (Aaron Paul) agrees to be the hit man.
When Skyler suspects that Walt (Bryan Cranston) isn't telling her the truth, Skyler (Anna Gunn) adopts a cold and businesslike approach toward him. Meanwhile, as Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) draws him closer, Jesse (Aaron Paul) proves his worth to Mike and Gus' enterprise.
