Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara; September 5, 1946 – November 24, 1991) was a British singer, songwriter, and record producer who achieved fame in the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. He was known for his four-octave vocal range, flamboyant stage persona, and charismatic stage performances that often saw him interact with the audience.
