Filipa Matta

Acting

After graduating in theatre from the ESTC, specialising in performance (Lisbon, Portugal, 2010–2013), Filipa Carloto undertook training in choreographic research and creation at the PEPCC (Lisbon, Portugal, 2016), as well as training in publishing and editing at the Óficina do Cego (Lisbon, Portugal, 2017). Subsequently, they collaborated as an actor, dancer and assistant director with Pedro Gil, Tónan Quito, Tiago Rodrigues, Leonardo Moura Mateus, Hugo Pedro, Jorge Gonçalves, Raquel Castro and Terceira Pessoa, amongst others. At the same time, they also developed their own work through the following projects: *Memória individual implícita ou explícita* (TNDMII, Lisbon, 2016), *Bioluminescência* (RTP, Porto, 2019), *Querer morrer confortavelmente na dor*, in collaboration with Óscar Silva (TERCEIRA PESSOA, Castelo Branco, 2020–2021), *Quimona*, a digital project supported by Garantir Cultura (Idanha-a-Nova and Lisbon, 2022), as well as the performance *Carta Aberta* (Jardins Abertos Festival, Lisbon, 2022) . In 2023, they founded, alongside Mariana Ferreira, the discussion and dramaturgical support collective Kooperativa Dramatúrgica, aimed at supporting projects in the writing phase. In 2024, they moved to Brussels. Since arriving, they have worked as an assistant director with Paul and Mathilde Mosseray, and have also joined David Scarpuzza’s ongoing project, Tapetum Lucidum. They have also worked with Chloé Larrère (film) and Sarah Wery (directing). This year, they are completing their Master’s degree in installation/performance (speculative narrative) at the ERG (École de recherche graphique) and have undertaken a programme in real-time composition, coordinated by João Fiadeiro (PT). In Brussels, they are a percussionist with the Autotest 80.10 brass band. They are currently developing a multidisciplinary project, How to kill my mother, which will result in a performance and a documentary film.
