В оккупированной нацистами Варшаве в 1942 году убивают проститутку. В ходе расследования убийства подозреваемыми становятся три известных генерала вермахта. Дело спускают на тормозах, а обвиняемых спешно переводят в Париж. Однако вскоре и здесь обнаруживают труп девушки легкого поведения. Майора Грау, взявшегося за это таинственное дело, вынуждают прекратить дальнейшее расследование. Проходит 20 лет, и уже в Гамбурге, при схожих обстоятельствах, убивают еще одну женщину...
