메건 마일스는 30대 초반 여성으로, 전형적인 A형 타입의 뉴스 진행자다. 메건은 더 큰 방송국에서 뉴스 진행자로 일하게 될 기회를 얻지만, 약혼자에게 이별 통보를 받고, 엎친 데 덮친 격으로 지원했던 방송국에서 불합격 통보를 받게 된다. 메건은 자신을 위로하기 위해 찾아온 친구들과 함께 클럽에 가고, 그곳에서 일하는 바텐더 고든과 하룻밤을 보낸다. 이른 새벽, 자신의 상사에게서 다시 방송국에서 뉴스 진행을 맡게 될 수도 있다는 말을 들은 메건은 돈과 차, 휴대폰도 없는 상태로 고든의 집에서 빠져 나온다. 자신이 꿈꾸던 일을 놓치지 않기 위해 낯선 장소에서 방송국으로 향하는 중 기상천외한 일들이 벌어지는데.. 과연 그녀는 무사히 생방송을 진행할 수 있을까?
