부유하지만 몸이 아픈 소녀는 고지식하고 돈을 밝히는 의사에게 새장에 갇힌 새와 같이 과잉보호를 받으며 치료를 받고 있다. 한편 밝고 유쾌하며 모두에게 사랑받는 닥터 잭은 오늘도 마을의 고민거리를 해결해주느라 동분 서주한다. 소녀의 인형을 우물에서 건져주고, 꾀병을 부리는 소년을 선도(?)하며 아들이 보고 싶어 병이 난 할머니에게 아들을 불러준다. 그는 약보다는 정신치료에 중점을 두는 앞서가는 의사였던 것이다. 어머니의 병이 외로움 때문이였다는것을 닥터 잭에 의해 깨닿게 된 사업가는 친구에게 닥터 잭을 소개한다. 아픈 소녀의 집을 방문한 잭은 고지식한 의사와 대립하게 되는데...
