어릴때 배트맨을 열광적으로 좋아했던 대릴(Darryl Walker: 대몬 웨인즈 분)과 케빈(Kevin Walker: 데이비드 알란 그리어 분)은 이제 성인이 되었다. 형 케빈은 방송국의 프로듀서로 일하면서 정상적인 성인의 삶을 살아가지만 대릴은 집안에 쳐박혀 온갖 괴상한 것들을 발명하면서 여전히 환상의 세계에 빠져산다. 형제를 키운 할머니는 요즘 해리스 시장(Mayor Marvin Harris: 크리스토퍼 로포드 분)의 선거운동에 적극적으로 참여하고 있다. 어느날 선거본부에 무장괴한이 침입하여 선거자금을 강탈하고 대릴의 할머니와 선거요원 몇명을 살해하고 달아나는 사건이 발생한다. 할머니의 장례식 후 대릴은 우연히 총알을 막을 수 있는 옷감을 발명한다. 대릴은 그 옷감으로 옷을 만들고 세상의 불의와 싸울 것을 결심하는데...
