戦争
1942年の北アフリカ戦線。サハラ砂漠にガン軍曹率いる、米国戦車分遣隊第５部隊は軍の指令に従い南下を続けていた。途中、出会った連合軍兵士や捕虜を乗せ、水の出るある廃墟にたどり着く。しかし、独軍も水を求めてそこへ接近していた。ガン軍曹たちは、水を餌に、ドイツ軍を足止めさせる作戦を企てるが・・・。
