マイアミで取立屋を行っているチリ・パーマーは無類の映画好き。ボスが急死したため、彼らの組織は悪党レイの傘下に入ることになったが、チリを嫌うレイは彼に取り立ての難しい仕事をまわす。飛行機事故で死んだ事になっているクリーニング屋レオの足どりを追ってベガスに赴いたチリは、レオの情報と引き換えにハリウッドのB級映画プロデューサー、ハリーからの借金回収を頼まれる。だが愛人カレンの家に押し入ったチリとハリーは意気投合し、いっしょに映画を作る話で盛り上がる。だがハリーは、ヤバイ商売で有名な会社から渡されていた映画資金を使い込んでいたのだ……。
