２大カンフー・スター、Ｊ・チェンとＪ・リー、待望の初競演。現代の米国人青年が古代の中国に飛び、武術の達人２人とともに邪悪な支配者と戦うアクションファンタジーアドベンチャー。中盤チェンとリーが拳を交わして戦う場面は「マトリックス」シリーズにも参加してきたY・ウーピンのアクション演出もあって、思わず息をのむほどの大迫力。 ボストン。カンフー好きだが気弱な青年ジェイソンはストリートギャングに脅され、ある中国人の質屋に押し入る片棒を担ぐはめに。そしてギャングに銃で撃たれた老主人から、元の持ち主に返せと1本の金色の棒を託される。直後、ジェイソンは気付くと時空を超えて古代の中国へ。金色の棒は悪の支配者ジェイド将軍によって石に封じ込められた孫悟空の武器“如意棒”で、彼は酔拳の達人ルー・ヤンらと孫悟空を解放する旅に出るが……。
