Anne Benton (Foster) assiste a un omicidio compiuto per conto del boss Carelli (Stockwell). Costretta alla fuga dai killer che le uccidono il fidanzato (Sheen), si rifugia nel New Mexico dove viene scoperta da Milo (Hopper) un altro e più raffinato killer spedito sulle sue tracce. Milo ama il sax, Botticelli e Bosch e in breve s'innamora anche di Anne e rinuncia a ucciderla.
