Jimmy Warner est un adorable petit garçon de dix ans vivant avec sa famille et son meilleur ami, un berger allemand nommé Rintintin, dans une charmante banlieue loin du tumulte de la grande ville. Depuis la mort de sa mère, Jimmy passe le plus clair de son temps avec son chien. Lorsque son père obtient une promotion obligeant toute la famille déménager à New York dans une résidence qui n'accepte pas les animaux, Jimmy doit abandonner son fidèle ami. Rintintin fera tout pour retrouver son maître et commence alors la plus incroyable des aventures...
