Le jeune professionnel Stuart Dempsey commence son déménagement de Chicago à New York par une étrange rencontre avec deux hommes mystérieux dans un train. Les choses ne deviennent pas beaucoup plus confortables lorsqu'il commence son travail d'assistant de l'exigeant rédacteur en chef d'un quotidien, Max Kaufman. Mais les choses commencent à s'éclaircir lorsqu'il a la chance de sous-louer un appartement à loyer contrôlé qui comprend apparemment une belle femme, Daphné ( Victoria Sanchez ). Il se trouve que le véritable propriétaire de l'appartement est un assassin international nommé Jaguar, qui envisage de tuer le président russe en visite.
