Dans les brumes d’un port d’Anvers, Léna, une jeune fille maltraitée et exploitée par son patron croit trouver en Yvon, un jeune docker, l’amour. Caressant l’idée de recommencer leur vie dans des pays merveilleux, Yvon commet un vol et est arrêté. Libéré, Yvon part seul, Léna le rejoindra plus tard. Deux ans s’écoulent. Un jour, Léna reçoit une lettre d’Yvon contenant l’argent du voyage. Elle s’embarque sur le premier bateau.
