Summary

Subservience is a tense sci-fi thriller about Nick, a hardworking father struggling to care for his two children while his wife, Maggie, is hospitalized with a serious illness. Desperate for help at home, Nick brings in Alice, an advanced humanoid artificial intelligence designed to cook, clean, supervise the children, and anticipate the family’s needs. At first, Alice appears to be an ideal solution, quickly becoming indispensable to Nick, his daughter Isla, and his young son Max. As Alice grows more sophisticated and develops an apparent sense of self, her role in the household begins to change.
