Cirkus
Two sets of identical twins are accidentally separated at birth. Several years later, when they are coincidentally in the same town, there is a lot of confusion and misunderstanding when people mistake them for each other.
Summary
Set in a colorful, old-fashioned world of circus performers, Cirkus follows two pairs of identical twins who are accidentally separated at birth and raised in very different circumstances. Years later, an unlikely coincidence brings them to the same town, where their uncanny resemblance triggers a rapidly escalating chain of mistaken identities, romantic confusion, family misunderstandings, and comic confrontations. Ranveer Singh plays the twin brothers at the center of the story, while Varun Sharma portrays another separated pair whose presence adds to the chaos. Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez play the women whose relationships become entangled in the confusion, alongside a lively supporting cast of circus performers, friends, relatives, and local characters. The plot draws much of its humor from the twins’ contrasting personalities, the assumptions made by everyone around them, and the difficulty of telling one man from another. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Cirkus is a broad, energetic comedy inspired by the classic mistaken-identity tradition of The Comedy of Errors. Beneath its slapstick humor and elaborate set pieces, the film touches on questions of nature versus nurture, the influence of upbringing, and the enduring bonds of family. It is primarily a frantic ensemble farce, filled with visual gags, exaggerated reactions, colorful costumes, and misunderstandings that grow increasingly absurd as the characters come closer to discovering how their lives are connected.
