Summary

“Mindflip” (2026) is a darkly comic body-horror thriller about aging, celebrity, and the desperate fantasy of defeating death. Marilyn Hardesty, a once-famous horror actress and the wealthy heir to her late husband’s biotech fortune, refuses to accept that illness and advancing age will bring her career—and her life—to an end. Determined to regain her youth and return to the spotlight, she pursues an experimental procedure that could transfer her mind into a younger body. To make that dream possible, Marilyn enlists Norman Baetz, her devoted and unsettling personal assistant, and Dr. Laurence Fine, a brilliant but morally unrestrained neurobiologist. Fine’s “cut and paste” cybernetics promise a radical solution, but the research requires human subjects. Using the lure of reality-TV fame, the trio brings three young women to Marilyn’s isolated estate, where the promise of glamour quickly gives way to fear and suspicion. As strange experiments begin to unfold throughout the property, the visitors realize they may be trapped in a deadly scheme and must find a way to survive. At the center of the film is Marilyn, a grand, fading star whose vanity and terror of mortality are inseparable from her longing to be seen again. Norman’s loyalty adds an unnerving layer of dependence and manipulation, while Dr. Fine embodies the danger of scientific brilliance freed from ethical limits. The young women provide the film’s emotional and suspenseful perspective as they attempt to understand what is happening and escape the estate. Blending grotesque horror, science fiction, and satire, “Mindflip” examines the entertainment industry’s obsession with youth, the commodification of women’s bodies, and the lengths people will go to preserve status and beauty. Its remote mansion, experimental technology, and theatrical central performance give the story a lurid, old-school horror atmosphere, while its focus on celebrity culture and reality television adds a contemporary edge. The result is a macabre tale of immortality pursued as both a medical breakthrough and a twisted form of show business.
