Summary
Lick follows Evelyn Thomas, a young woman who wakes up in Las Vegas after her 21st-birthday celebration to discover that she has married David Ferris, the charismatic frontman of a hugely successful rock band. With little memory of the night before, Evelyn is stunned to find herself suddenly connected to a celebrity whose life is defined by sold-out shows, relentless publicity, and an intensely loyal fan base. What initially seems like an impulsive mistake becomes more complicated when David takes their marriage seriously and draws Evelyn into his fast-moving world. As she encounters the pressures of touring, public scrutiny, and David’s demanding lifestyle, she must decide whether she can adapt without losing her own sense of self. David, meanwhile, has to prove that his interest in Evelyn is more than a product of a wild night or the fleeting excitement of a new romance. The principal relationship is between Evelyn and David, whose contrasting circumstances drive the film’s emotional conflict: she is trying to regain control of an unexpectedly transformed life, while he is attempting to balance fame, personal vulnerability, and a commitment he did not anticipate. The story also includes the musicians and people surrounding David, whose presence emphasizes the gap between Evelyn’s ordinary life and the complicated ecosystem of rock-star celebrity. Blending romantic drama with a music-centered, celebrity-fantasy setting, Lick explores the difference between attraction and commitment, the importance of personal agency, and the challenges of building trust when a relationship begins under extraordinary circumstances. At its heart, it asks whether love can survive when two people must distinguish genuine feeling from impulse, publicity, and the seductive chaos of life in the spotlight.
