An IAS aspirant, who lands in Chennai to fulfill his mother's wish, gets into trouble with a local councillor and his men, leading to a power struggle.

Summary

Kodiyil Oruvan follows Vijay Raghavan, an ambitious young man who comes to Chennai determined to fulfill his mother’s dream of seeing him become an IAS officer. While preparing for the civil service examination, he becomes involved in the life of a disadvantaged neighborhood and takes on work connected to its local school. What begins as a personal journey toward professional success soon draws him into a volatile confrontation with a powerful local councillor and the men who enforce his authority. Vijay Antony plays Vijay Raghavan as a resourceful, quietly determined protagonist whose intelligence is matched by a strong sense of justice. Aathmika appears as the woman who becomes an important presence in his new life, while the supporting cast represents the residents, political operators, and institutions caught in the conflict. The councillor serves as more than a conventional villain: he embodies a system in which public influence, intimidation, and political patronage are used to control ordinary people. The film combines political drama, action, and elements of romance as Vijay Raghavan’s civil-service aspirations become entangled with a grassroots struggle. Its central themes include the value of education, the desire for social mobility, the responsibilities that come with knowledge, and the tension between idealism and entrenched political power. It also emphasizes the bond between a mother and son, portraying his ambition not simply as a career goal but as a promise he is determined to keep. Though built around familiar underdog and vigilante conventions, Kodiyil Oruvan aims to present its hero’s fight as part of a larger question about whether an individual can challenge corruption and give marginalized communities a voice.
