Summary

Set in a near-future Los Angeles, Jackpot! imagines a society where the annual Grand Lottery offers a life-changing fortune but comes with a brutal condition: once a winner is announced, anyone may legally kill them before sundown and claim the prize. The system turns survival into a public spectacle, with ordinary citizens, opportunists, and professional hunters all chasing the same jackpot. Katie Kim, played by Awkwafina, is a newcomer trying to rebuild her life and pursue an acting career when she unexpectedly discovers that she holds the winning ticket. Almost immediately, she becomes the target of a citywide manhunt. Her only realistic chance of staying alive is Noel Cassidy, a fast-talking but capable amateur lottery protection agent played by John Cena. Noel offers to defend Katie until the deadline in exchange for a share of her winnings, forcing the two strangers into an uneasy partnership as they race through a hostile city. Their journey also brings them into conflict with more experienced and self-interested figures, including Noel’s ambitious rival Louis Lewis, played by Simu Liu.
