F1
Let's ride.
Racing legend Sonny Hayes is coaxed out of retirement to lead a struggling Formula 1 team—and mentor a young hotshot driver—while chasing one more chance at glory.
Summary
“F1” follows Sonny Hayes, a once-celebrated Formula 1 driver whose promising career was derailed by a devastating crash. Decades later, he is living as a globe-trotting racer for hire when his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes, asks him to return to the sport and help rescue the struggling APXGP team. Sonny agrees to take the wheel, but his role extends beyond racing: he must also mentor Joshua Pearce, the team’s gifted yet impulsive young driver, whose confidence and ambition are as formidable as his talent. As the season unfolds across the world’s most demanding circuits, Sonny and Joshua find themselves competing not only against better-funded teams and elite drivers, but also against their own contrasting approaches to the sport. Sonny relies on experience, instinct, and hard-earned wisdom, while Joshua is eager to prove that raw speed and fearless aggression can make him a star. Their uneasy partnership is further shaped by Ruben’s determination to keep the team alive and by Kate McKenna, the team’s technically brilliant director, who understands that success depends on discipline and trust as much as spectacular lap times. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, “F1” combines the heightened drama of a comeback story with the physical immediacy of a racing film. Its racetracks, garages, team radios, and high-pressure strategy sessions create a world in which split-second decisions can alter careers, reputations, and fortunes. Beneath the spectacle, the film explores aging, redemption, mentorship, and the difficult balance between individual glory and collective achievement. Sonny’s return is not simply a bid for another trophy; it is an attempt to reckon with the past while deciding what kind of legacy he still wants to leave. With Brad Pitt bringing weary charisma to the veteran racer and Damson Idris matching him with youthful intensity, “F1” presents its competition as both a battle for victory and a test of whether experience and ambition can learn to work together.
