Summary
Dance Queen (2022) follows Hana and Hira, two young girls separated by time and living in very different eras. Through a mysterious miracle, they are given the chance to meet, forming an unlikely friendship that crosses the boundaries of their worlds. As they share their hopes, fears, and questions about what lies ahead, each girl becomes a source of encouragement for the other. Their connection allows them to see their own lives from a new perspective. While the circumstances surrounding their meeting are extraordinary, the film focuses on the intimate emotions of growing up: the desire to be understood, the uncertainty of choosing a future, and the courage required to pursue one’s dreams. Dance serves as an important means of expression, giving the girls a way to communicate feelings that are difficult to put into words and creating a bridge between their separate lives. Warm, sentimental, and gently fantastical, Dance Queen is ultimately a coming-of-age story about friendship, hope, and the lasting influence people can have on one another—even when they come from different times.
