Borderlands

Summary

“Borderlands” (2024) is a chaotic science-fiction action comedy set on Pandora, a lawless planet filled with hostile creatures, ruthless bandits, and the ruins of forgotten civilizations. The film follows Lilith, an infamous bounty hunter with a troubled history on the planet, who is hired by the powerful businessman Atlas to find his missing daughter, Tiny Tina. The movie draws on the distinctive visual style and irreverent humor of the video game series, combining explosive gunfights, grotesque creatures, colorful locations, and a deliberately offbeat cast of characters. Beneath its fast-paced spectacle, the story focuses on reluctant cooperation and the idea that family can be created rather than inherited. Lilith’s guarded independence is challenged by the group’s growing loyalty, while the film also explores trauma, personal identity, corporate greed, and the dangers of treating immense power as something to be owned.
