Summary

Set in a near future where consciousness can be preserved and transferred, Another End follows Sal, a man struggling to live after the death of his wife, Zoe. Withdrawn and consumed by grief, he resists the possibility of moving on until his sister, Ebe, introduces him to an experimental technology known as “Another End.” The procedure can place the memories and personality of a deceased person into the body of a living host, allowing loved ones a temporary chance to reconnect with someone they have lost. Sal reluctantly agrees to take part, encountering a woman who carries Zoe’s consciousness and mannerisms while remaining, in every physical sense, a different person. Their meetings offer moments of tenderness and familiarity, but they also force Sal to confront the uncomfortable boundaries between memory, identity, and genuine presence.
