Alone
Laura Garland lost her husband on the war while she’s pregnant. She lives in a big house which is divided in two. Government pursuits her claiming she must occupy the whole house, if she doesn’t, they will take it from her. Laura leases the house to Ricky, an outlaw that will bring new trouble in her life. At least she has another plan.
Summary
Alone (2021) follows Laura Garland, a pregnant woman grieving the loss of her husband in the war while struggling to keep hold of the large house they once shared. The property has been divided into two living spaces, but government officials insist that Laura occupy the entire house or risk losing it. With few options, she rents the unused portion to Ricky, an outlaw whose arrival quickly introduces a new and dangerous element into her already fragile life. As Laura tries to protect her home and prepare for the future, her arrangement with Ricky becomes increasingly complicated. Their uneasy proximity forces both characters to confront questions of trust, vulnerability, and survival, while Laura’s private plan adds further tension to the situation.
