Alice is 27 years old today. Even though she is suffocating a bit, she still lives with her parents and tends to live in her dreams to escape her dreary everyday life. After a psychedelic party on a factory roof, she has a serious drunken bike accident. Will this give her the courage to become an adult?

Summary

On her 27th birthday, Alice finds herself caught between childhood and adulthood. She still lives with her parents, whose presence is both comforting and suffocating, and spends much of her time retreating into vivid fantasies rather than confronting the dullness of everyday life. The gap between the life she imagines and the one she actually leads becomes impossible to ignore as she joins a psychedelic party on the roof of an abandoned factory, where the night’s reckless energy gives way to a serious drunken bicycle accident. Alice’s parents form the emotional center of her strained home life, while the partygoers and the fleeting freedom of the night offer a glimpse of the world she longs to enter. At the heart of the film is Alice herself: an imaginative, frustrated young woman who is old enough to be expected to take responsibility but not yet ready to surrender the escapist habits that have protected her from disappointment. Rather than treating adulthood as a simple milestone, 27 explores it as an uneasy process of self-recognition. The film considers the pull of family, the fear of independence, the seductions of fantasy and intoxication, and the difference between dreaming of change and acting on it. Its coming-of-age story is intimate and psychologically charged, balancing the drabness of Alice’s routine with surreal, heightened moments that reflect her inner world. The result is a portrait of a young woman hovering on the threshold of change, with the accident forcing her to question whether she can finally move beyond the life she has been avoiding.
