1930년대 미국 뉴올리언스. 티아나(애니카 노니 로즈)는 밤낮없이 아르바이트를 뛰며 돈을 모은다. 일찍 돌아가신 아빠(테렌스 하워드)의 꿈이었으며 이제는 그녀 본인의 목표가 된 뉴올리언스 최고의 레스토랑을 열기 전까지, 그녀에겐 연애할 시간도 없다. 그러다가 우연히 사악한 부두마법사 파실리에(키스 데이비드)에게 휘말려 개구리로 변해버린 나빈 왕자(브루노 캠포스)를 마주친다. 키스 한번이면 개구리가 왕자로 변한다는 공식을 믿고 티아나는 나빈에게 키스하지만 오히려 티아나까지 개구리로 변해버리는데...
