Soon, William runs into Jack Slade (Sonny Tufts), a gun-toting stranger who is itching for a gunfight. Jack falls in with a group of thugs terrorizing William's town. The Rev. Jericho Jones (Buddy Rogers) exhorts William to defend the townspeople, and, when William's maid, Tonya (Marie Windsor), is beaten by the thugs, he grabs his pistol.
