Food Sail Love: Venice
In this second episode, we sail into Venice and visit our friend Renato, who has been the head chef at the Cipriani Hotel for over 25 years and has travelled the world as a food ambassador. Renato invites us into his kitchen to make some of his best-loved Venetian dishes. We then visit the famous Rialto markets and cook a few of my favourites in the yacht’s galley. We conclude our Venice adventure by visiting some friends at an old gondola repair yard called a squero. It has been converted into a private retreat featuring an impressive kitchen, from which we experience a memorable Venetian cook-up.
Upcoming

Food Sail Love: Kekova
In this episode, we sail all the way to southern Turkey to visit the picturesque village of Kaleköy in the Kekova area. We introduce you to a local family who run the Likya restaurant, and serve simple delicious Turkish food. We’ve known them for over 30 years, ever since we began sailing here. We also discover how the locals love the carob bean, and how they make a tasty, healthy syrup from it. Finally, we’ll introduce you to our friend Kadriye who cooks up a typical Turkish lunch, and one of her neighbours demonstrates how to make the local pancake called gözleme.

Food Sail Love: Rhodes
As our long voyage from Venice continues, we sail from Kastellorizo to Lindos on the island of Rhodes. This is where Patrick and I married, over 30 years ago. In Lindos, we take you to the Melenos kitchen; where the chef, Gogo, will show us her very modern & healthy take on traditional Greek cuisine. We visit Rhodes, where I used to teach ballet, and show you how to prepare artichokes with vinaigrette sauce, the dish that Patrick prepared for me on our very first date! Finally, we visit my godfather, Vangelis, who shows us how to prepare some authentic everyday Greek food.

Food Sail Love: Symi, Santorini, Corinth
In this episode, we will take you to the beautiful Greek island of Symi, where the amphitheatrical harbour displays its distinctive neo classical architecture, very specific to this particular corner of the Aegean. Here we’ll recapture old memories, and cook the local delicacy - Symi shrimps. Our next stop is the extraordinary island of Santorini, where we will celebrate their famous tomatoes, grown in the rich volcanic soil. Finally, we head northwest to the mouth of the Corinth canal - the location of one of our all-time favourite seafood restaurants in the Mediterranean. It’s called Kavos and is run by Pagona and her son, Tassos.

Food Sail Love: Amalfi & Sestri Levante
In this episode, we will sail through the Corinth canal in Greece, cross to the boot of Italy and sail all the way up the west coast to Liguria, to one of our favourite towns – Sestri Levante. On the way, we will stop at Galaxidi, halfway up the Gulf of Corinth, for breakfast after which I will prepare a Moussaka in the galley – under sail. We will then take you to Amalfi and the bay of Naples to pay homage to their lemons and to the Caprese salad, before arriving in the village of Sestri Levante to experience some delicious Ligurian dishes.

Food Sail Love: Portofino
In Portofino, we’ll be shown how to make the authentic version of pesto alla Genovese, by chef Corrado at the legendary Hotel Splendido. We will then visit the Canale bakery to see how they make the famous local bread called focaccia; and after that, we will meet up with my dear friend Nina on the yacht in Portofino’s iconic harbour, which is where we met over 25 years ago. She wants to show us how to make a couple of delicious dishes, in the galley.

Food Sail Love: French Riviera
In this, the final episode, we sail along the French Riviera and catch up with some of the people and places we know and love. This region is particularly dear to Patrick; he was born in Marseille and spent all of his childhood summers on this coast. First, we’ll visit St Tropez, including the iconic Club 55; then we’ll take you to Antibes and to a couple of nearby villages, St Paul de Vence and Biot. Each has a restaurant which we count among our favourites, and they have two things in common – traditional Provençal food… and art, which in each case is largely its raison d’être.

Food Sail Love: Chioggia
In our first episode, you find us at a boatyard in the small fishing town of Chioggia - at the southern end of the Venice Lagoon, preparing the yacht for its voyage. We will show you around this lovely town, and introduce you to some of the colourful people we’ve come to know here over the years. Chioggia is the busiest fishing port on all of mainland Italy; we will take you to its fish markets, and meet a restaurateur in the kitchen of one of Chioggia’s finest restaurants to see the chefs cook some local specialties. We also go fishing with a father and son, who practice an ancient tradition of net and pole fishing on the Venetian Lagoon. They are called moecanti.
