Returning to Venice, Louisiana for the first time in nearly a decade, Rush reconnects with longtime friends Eric and Monique Newman of Journey South Outfitters for an unforgettable inshore fishing adventure in the heart of the Mississippi River Delta. With reports of massive schools of redfish cruising the beaches, Monique (“Moe”) must decide whether to trust the intel and make a bold run down the coast—or rely on her own instincts built from years on the water. The mission is simple: put Rush on a true bull redfish and see if he has what it takes to earn a spot in her coveted “Over 40-Inch Club.” This trip highlights why Venice, Louisiana is considered one of the premier inshore fisheries in the country—and why having the right guide makes all the difference. Target Species: Bull Redfish. Location: Venice, Louisiana – Mississippi Delta. Outfitter: Journey South Outfitters.

After a few incredible days targeting redfish on the inshore waters of Venice, Louisiana, Eric and Moe Newman bring Rush to the nearshore oil rigs — and that’s where things get wild. The rigs are holding GIANT mangrove snapper, bruiser cobia, and hard-fighting jacks… but getting them to the boat is a whole different story. Fishing heavy structure means short strikes, busted hooks, shredded leaders, and fish that know exactly where to run. Around these rigs it’s not just fishing — it’s full-blown combat. If you want to land one of these beasts, you better bring extra hooks, heavy tackle, and a whole lot of patience. Easier said than done. Venice, Louisiana continues to prove why it’s one of the most action-packed fisheries in the country.
