Seungyu abducts Seryeong. Geumseong fails to assassinate Suyang and gets arrested. Myeon goes to find Seryeong, but Seungyu and Seryeong get away with Jo Seokju's help. Seungyu lures Suyang out using Seryeong. Seungyu aims an arrow at Suyang and Myeon aims an arrow at Seungyu.
Seungyu hears that his sister-and-law and Agang died. He is set on getting revenge for his family. Suyang hears about Geumseong's plan to kill him. He comes up with a plan to eliminate Geumseong, Jeongjong and Gyeonghye. Seungyu follows Seryeong and sneaks into the house on the day of the wedding.
Seungyu escapes the island with Jo Seokju's help, but he is injured. Seryeong prepares to get married to Myeon. Prince Geunseong plans to kill Prince Suyang on Seryeong's wedding day. Seungyu goes to Suyang's house and sees Myeon and Seryeong together.
Seryeong tells Seungyu to live and come back to kill her. Suyang plots a scheme to get Anpyeong killed and sends people to sink the boat Seungyu is on. Seryeong's marriage to Myeon is set. Seungyu escapes from the boat. He recognizes one of the men who is chasing him as the man who killed his father.
Seungyu goes to kill Suyang and finds out that Seryeong is his daughter. Seryeong threatens to kill herself if Seungyu's life isn't spared. Prince Geumseong starts to raise power to support the king. Seungyu isn't executed, but banished.
Seungyu rushes to Princess Gyeonghye's house to tell the king that his father is alive, but he is captured by Myeon. Suyang lets him go, so he will lead them to his father. Seryeong hears Seungyu was captured and rushes to the princess's house, but the princess tells her Seungyu is dead. The men who follow Seungyu kill Kim Jongseo and Myeon is about to bury Seungyu.
Seungyu finds out that Seryeong isn't the princess and looks for her. He is accused of insulting the princess and interrogated by the king. Munjong wants to believe in his innocence, but the ministers and servants continue to write appeals to have him executed. Seryeong goes to prison to tell him who she is and save him when her father appears.
Princess Gyeonghye tells Seryeong that Kim Seungyu is going to marry her and that she shouldn't see him anymore. Prince Suyang invites Myeon to his house where he runs into Seryeong and finds out she isn't the princess. Princess Gyeonghye finds out that Seryeong met Seungyu again and calls them both to her quarters.
Princess Gyeonghye finds out that Seungyu is to be her husband. She also finds out that Seungyu and Seryeong met outside the palace. Seungyu and Seryeong grow closer riding a horse. Prince Suyang is mad that Munjong and Kim Jongseo are holding hands and tries to harm Seungyu.
Prince Suyang wants his daughterto marry Kim Jongseo's son, Seungyu, for political unity. Seryeong finds out that Seungyu became Princess Gyeonghye's teacher and goes in her place to see what he is like. Seungyu thinks she is the princess when he runs into her again outside the palace.
Keutbong dies in Eopbok's arms. Eopbok is furious over the unknown man's betrayal and seeks revenge.
During the commotion over the Seonhyecheong battle, Daegil and Taeha hide in the tavern. They decide to use Daegil as bait to escape Hanyang and get on a boat with the envoy from Qing.
Daegil and Taeha learn from Cheolung's torture that it was Cheolung who attacked General Choi, Wangson, and Taeha's men.
After eliminating the rest of Taeha and Jo's gang, Hwang Cheolung goes after Jo.
The revenge-seeking Cheon Jiho gets arrested after falling for Officer Oh's trap. As Jo and Taeha's tensions grow high, Jo plots to take the royal grandson.
Eopbok follows an order to ambush Yongi and his gang, but gets into trouble after being counterattacked.
After the injury, Cheolung turns coldhearted. He kills the scholars who petitioned to pardon the royal grandson and tries to find information on Taeha.

Daegil, Taeha, Cheolung, Baekho, and Yunji cross each other in downtown Chungju. Amidst the Chaos, Daegil catches a glimpse of Hyewon and gets stabbed by Cheolung while in a state of shock.
Hyewon a former slave tries to leave Taeha when she learns that the slave chasers are after him. Daegil studies the records and goes to Chungju because that's where Taeha's teacher Im Yeongho resides.
