Fighting for a Mate

Animals face daily battles to protect themselves and secure the resources they need to survive. Every battle is a trade-off between the risk to health and the prizes awarded to the victors. Each animal fights with a unique set of tools, from display structures and elaborate body language to claws, jaws and antlers. And few fights are as fuelled as those during breeding season the ultimate trophy for the brave fighter is, of course, a chance to pass on the fighting genes to the next generation.
