In celebration of Marie Claire's 20th anniversary, the designers are asked to make a look that could be worn twenty years in the future in the magazine. The catch? They have to look to the past…20 years to be exact, for inspiration.

The designers are excited when they are taken to a movie theatre for their next challenge, but nerves set in when Tim explains they will be working in teams…with unconventional materials! In groups of three, the designers must create a cohesive collection using items that would normally be found in a movie theatre.

In the season premiere we meet 18 new designers as they arrive in NYC and face one final audition in front of the judges. After three designers are cut right away, the remaining 15 are asked to design a spring look from fabrics they are given. Amanda Valentine, from season 11, returns as the “fan favorite” and 16th designer. Tim Gunn introduces everyone to the eighteen new designers who will be competing against each other on Project Runway Season 13. He also teases the fact that one of three former designers, chosen strictly by the fans, will be rejoining the competition this season.

All of the designers reunite one last time to discuss their experiences on Project Runway together, settle any last feuds that still exist in the group, and reminisce about their time on this season. Tim Gunn hosts…and a rather spirited discussion leads him to almost lose his cool with the designers!

The moment that our designers have been waiting and hoping for since the very beginning, the opportunity to show at New York Fashion Week, has finally arrived. With only four competitors remaining, another look to create, and very little time left, who will ultimately have what it takes to win Project Runway?

Fashion Week is just around the corner, and the remaining five designers return home to work on their collections. But even though two designers are guaranteed a spot at New York Fashion Week, the remaining three have to battle in front of the judges to prove who has what it takes to make it to the next level and show their collection at Lincoln Center.

For their second Team Challenge of the season, the designers are divided into four teams of three and told they are making a 3-piece mini collection inspired by their assigned Lexus Sedan. However, this is also an Unconventional Materials Challenge, so the designers must drive their Lexus' to various predetermined locations of their choosing in order to shop for this challenge.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, actor and founder of “Tie the Knot,” challenges the designers to create a garment that incorporates and is inspired by bowties. The drama mounts as one designer proposes to his partner, while another leaves the show for good.

The designers are taken to Coney Island and split into teams of two for the Yoplait Challenge. After asking patrons to describe different flavors of yogurt, they must then use these descriptive words as inspiration for their Runway look. The catch? The only fabric allowed in this challenge are from prizes they win at Coney Island.

The designers are surprised to see armed security guards arrive on the Runway…until their models step out wearing millions of dollars of exquisite jewels. The designers must create a look based around the model, and jewelry, of their choosing.

In the season premiere, we meet 15 brand new designers on an airfield outside of NYC, and learn from Heidi and Tim that Kate (Season 11) will be rejoining the competition. The new designers witness a spectacular skydive that ends with their first challenge: Design a look that represents their aesthetic, but only using parachutes as material.

Tim Gunn introduces everyone to 15 new designers who will be competing against each other on Project Runway Season 12. He also teases the fact that one of three former designers, chosen strictly by the fans, will be rejoining the competition this season. Former alumni Nick Verreos and Michelle Lesniak Franklin provide their personal commentary about the designers. All of the designers get to meet with each other one more time to talk about their experiences while on Project Runway Season 11. The designers seize the opportunity to celebrate the winner and iron out any issues that may need resolving. While their discussion gets heated at times, their time together is revealing and cathartic for everybody.

It's the moment of truth for the remaining designers as they each present their final collections to an eager audience at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. One designer is named the winner of Project Runway Season 11, and the rest are unfortunately out.

The designers must work in teams of two to create looks for “mature” women, who also serve as their clients and models for this challenge. Joan and Melissa Rivers guest judge.

The large teams dissolve, and the designers are now asked to work in pairs. The teams must make two looks—one red carpet and one performance—for country music star Miranda Lambert.

The designers are tasked with the Unconventional Materials Challenge. Two of Project Runway's favorite challenges, the flower store and the hardware store, are combined for the ultimate “hard and soft” challenge. Also, the teams get a bit of a shake-up when two members leave one team and one member leaves another. The legendary Bette Midler serves as a guest judge.

The teams are presented with the challenge and privilege of designing a look for Heidi to wear in her ad campaign and for press events while promoting her new fragrance “Surprise". Two designers win the challenge.

The two teams are tasked with designing new uniforms for the popular nightclub/ping pong club Spin. The winning design will be worn by Spin employees. Susan Sarandon appears as a guest judge.
