MeatEater

MeatEater

On this trip, Steve travels to the Sacramento Valley in central California in search of a new challenge and seriously good food. 300 years ago Spanish settlers let a handful of pigs loose in order to turn acorns into bacon, and today Steve is hunting the feral descendants of those pigs. If he's successful in finding a wild boar, Steve will prepare a backcountry gourmet feast of pork loin roasted with apples and rosemary cooked in tin foil over a fire.

Das Boat

Das Boat

Dos Boat meets up with Oliver Ngy and Kevin Harlander in North Central Wisconsin. Oliver and Kevin are here for two things: big musky and delicious panfish. They give Das Boat a lake fishing upgrade with electronics and a powerful trolling motor. They convert a cooler into a livewell to keep bait and fish alive. They discuss whether or not it really takes 10,000 casts to catch a musky, losing the fish of a lifetime right at the boat, the figure 8, how bluegills make you feel like a winner.

Das Boat

Steve hauls Dos Boat to Boyne City, Michigan. Janis Putelis connects with trout fishing guide Brian Kozminski. Cal in the Field

Cal in the Field

Cal heads to a waterfowl mecca — California's Sacramento Valley — where he joins Sean Doherty and local guide Scott Feist for a hunt in the heart of the nation's largest agricultural region. The rice fields they're hunting provide vital habitat for waterfowl outside of planting season. Thanks to ongoing conservation efforts, native ducks, geese, and shorebirds have returned to the area. The same water that grows food and attracts birds could also help revive the native fishery.
