Kim Hyun-chul on I'm LIVE - Part II. Joining us on this week's I'm LIVE is the Korean father of city pop - Kim Hyun-chul! Kim Hyun-chul made his debut in 1989 with the album Kim Hyun-chul Vol. 1. With all songs composed written and arranged by the artist himself he pleasantly surprised the ears and souls of listeners with his jazz-infused music and eventually brought a new wave to the Korean music scene. Throughout his 32-year career Kim Hyun-chul gained much critical acclaim and commercial success earning the nickname the father of Korean city pop. Also his debut album was chosen as one of the All-Time 100 Greatest Albums of Korean Popular Music thanks to the influence it had had on the Korean music scene. Then in 2019 Kim Hyun-chul resumed his career after a break of 13 years and in celebration of the 30th anniversary of his debut. The album garnered much attention not only because of the anticipation of fans and critics but also because he brought an array of Korea's leading artists along with him. His return coincided with the resurgence of city pop in Korea and he's back once again 2 years later in 2021 to continue with the momentum. Part II of Kim Hyun-chul's performance features So Nice!! They met each other in university and then made their debut together in 2016 with the single To You I Am. Thanks to their soft mellow music and sweet lyrics the duo mesmerized the public immediately and they are certainly making their way in the music industry building their fanbase and having their music featured in various TV shows. With her stage name based on the Harry Potter saga's villain Voldemort she sings about the struggles loneliness and many other things that today's youth experiences. She's been also actively expanding her reach in the music industry taking part in the soundtracks of A-TEEN Romance Is a Bonus Book My Strange Hero and When the Camellia Blooms as well as the Beautiful Mint Life Festiva and the Let's Rock Festival. Last but not least she's dubbed the idol of the indie scene thanks to her cute appearance. Joining us on this week's I'm LIVE is Band Nah! Band Nah is composed of vocalist and guitarist Nah Sang-hyun drummer Kang Hyun-woong and bassist Paiiek. The three students at Seoul National University met each other through the school's composition club and then they released their first song together in 2014 as part of the Why Not Study project organized by the university. The following year they made their official debut in the music scene and have been actively growing their discography and exploring further new facets of their sound since then. Their performance of the song Nights received rave reviews in VOCALPLAY 2 in 2019 and then in 2020 they won the Rookie Green Friends of the Greenplugged-Seoul 2020 making us anticipate their future. She's also known for her mix of melodic acoustic themes powerful vocals and sheer lyrical prowess which together make her one of a kind.
