Destination Wild: Wild Chile

Destination Wild: Wild Chile

Chile is a ribbon of land trapped by natural borders. At its Northern edge, the driest desert in the world cuts off the country from the rest of South America. Here, in the Atacama desert, wildlife has spent millions of years adapting to a life without water. Those that survive have learnt that no opportunity comes without its fair share of risk, but for the animals of the Atacama, only those that dare, will make it in the most unforgiving desert on Earth.

The Return of the Osprey

The Osprey is the only raptor in the world to feed exclusively on fish. This migratory bird has lived throughout central Europe for a long time, nesting there in the summer months. But the species has gradually moved to more northerly regions of the continent, far from the persecution caused by human expansion. Wendy and Denis have set launched an ambitious challenge of reintroducing the Osprey to Switzerland, a century after its disappearance.
