Just as Jonathan's heroism transforms one foe's hatred into humanity, an even greater behemoth drives the crew to a knightly training camp, complete with a medieval chamber of death.

Key to defeating the Boss in hand, Polnareff waits for Bucciarati and crew. But the one who appears before him first is none other than the Boss of the Passione himself, Diavolo. The tides may not be the only things shifting in the battle yet to come.

The curtains are down on his skirmish with Secco, but Bucciarati must race against time to reach the Colosseum as he realizes his body is nearing the end of the line. Unfortunately, he's not the only one who catches on to his deteriorating condition.

One fierce battle ends in Cioccolata's defeat, but another unfolds after Secco listens to Cioccolata's revealing final voicemail. Bucciarati sinks into an intense underground struggle to stop Secco from reaching the secret stationed at the Colosseum.

Branching off from Bruno, who opts to tackle the underground swimmer Secco, Giorno and Mista chase Cioccolata as he flies to spread rotten ruin upon Rome. Their battles unfold in front of a mystery ally silently awaiting their arrival at the Colosseum.

No sooner than Bruno and team set foot on the shore near Rome the team finds a flesh-eating mold devouring everyone in sight. It's the work of Cioccolata, made worse by his partner Secco, who records the tortured faces of his victims to be viewed later.

With Abbacchio's replaying ability interminably stamped in stone, Bruno and team analyze the cryptic face and fingerprints left behind when a mysterious call arrives. They must race to the Colosseum, the caller warns, if they hope to ever defeat the Boss.

A picturesque Sardinian cliff becomes the bloody backdrop to Doppio's sudden dominance over Risotto, courtesy of Narancia's own Stand. On the beach below, Abbacchio works to rewind time 15 years to identify the identity of a certain photographer.

Having discovered there is more to skittish Doppio than meets the eye, Risotto uses his Stand to manifest various metallic instruments of torture from within his enemy. Fortunately for Doppio, a way to foresee the inevitable offers a glimmer of hope.

Bruno and team make an emergency landing in Sardegna where the Hitman Team leader, Risotto, is also determined to uncover a certain mystery. Doppio, a timid, wide-eyed teen, the result of a seemingly impossible pregnancy, has his own goals on the island.

At cruising altitude, Trish faces a voracious and fleshy mass of a Stand that strikes at the slightest movement. Meanwhile, Giorno's incessantly pulsating broach, the key to the team's survival, lies waiting—as does an unseen force within Trish.

Bruno et al head to Marco Polo airport to venture to Sardegna to discover the truth behind Trish's father. On the tarmac, however, is a swollen, neckless Stand user who, the team discovers while airborne, is linked to the freshly severed fingers onboard.

As Giorno is teleported between puddles with Squalo's shark attached firmly to his jugular, Narancia tries to sniff out the perpetrator using his CO2 tracer but is inhibited by Tiziano's tongue-fusing Stand, frustrating himself and Bruno's team.

Bruno and team, now self-chosen traitors, learn from Trish during a moment of calm at a Venetian café a trip to Sardegna is vital. Chaos, then, erupts as Narancia loses his tongue and ability to speak the truth after spotting a shark in his soup.

In the crypt of a Venetian church, Bruno discovers not only the brutal truth behind the Boss's true intentions but also the unstoppable Stand power he wields, a power that leaves Bruno in a pool of blood and in a moral quandary.

By revealing to each other a fearless embrace of the unknown, Giorno and Mista emerge victorious against Ghiaccio. Now, a single member of Bruno's group must face a single bell tower, a single elevator shaft, and a single menacing task.

Having beheaded their captor by zipper, the team learns its plan has been leaked to Zucchero's cohort, who is lying in wait on Capri. With fish and gun, Giorno and Mista swim to the island to beat the boat and weed out their assassin-in-waiting.

Sailing to the Isle of Capri to recover Polpo's estate, Bucciarati and team are ambushed by a stealthy enemy Stand that deflates them into rubber-like human pelts. Abbacchio, however, thinks he can find his comrades and reluctantly activates his Stand.

While word of the high-ranking capo Polpo's alleged suicide sparks astonishment and speculation in the crime syndicate Passione, Giorno is inducted into Bucciarati's eclectic mafia family. The only problem now is the vast fortune seemingly up for grabs.

Plodding amid the dusky shadows of a peaceful piazza is Polpo's macabre Stand, which assails any who dare witness the reigniting of the lighter. Giorno deciphers its method of attack, but is soon staring death in the face as Koichi comes to his aid.
