Tex-Mex Cuisine, Bull Riding & the Spirit of Texas | DIRT Texas

Tex-Mex Cuisine, Bull Riding & the Spirit of Texas | DIRT Texas

Anyone can be a cowboy—that's the biggest thing the DIRT crew learned in Texas. From riding bulls in Fort Worth to off-roading in the Chihuahuan desert to forging their own path across this vast state with the help of local trailblazers Liz and Lou Lambert. Lucky for us, they even stopped by Huckberry's own backyard in Austin for a quick ruck and a couple games of chicken sh*t bingo.

Exploring New Zealand's Wild Flavors | DIRT New Zealand

Exploring New Zealand's Wild Flavors | DIRT New Zealand

They say you come to New Zealand as a stranger, but leave as family. In this episode of DIRT, the crew goes full circle—meeting Muttonbird chefs Emma and George on the South Island before hopping up to Raglan and working their way back down. Water-skiing next to snow-capped mountains, cooking in hot springs the Māori way, and stargazing at Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve are all on the itinerary. But it's the final “Feed” done Kiwi-style that makes one thing clear—in this unique and stunning land, nobody's a stranger for long.

Cal in the Field

Cal in the Field

Cal heads to a waterfowl mecca — California's Sacramento Valley — where he joins Sean Doherty and local guide Scott Feist for a hunt in the heart of the nation's largest agricultural region. The rice fields they're hunting provide vital habitat for waterfowl outside of planting season. Thanks to ongoing conservation efforts, native ducks, geese, and shorebirds have returned to the area. The same water that grows food and attracts birds could also help revive the native fishery.

Bear Grease Roadshow

In this episode, Clay explores the origins of the Plott Hound, a breed developed in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Unlike other hounds, Plott Hounds didn't descend from European foxhounds and were specifically bred for bear hunting. Clay visits Roy Clark of East Tennessee to learn about his family's line of Plott Hounds, his philosophy on life, and to join the Laurel Mountain Bear Hunters on a bear hunt.

MeatEater

MeatEater

Steve loves to fish as much as he loves to hunt. Steve is on a river in SW Montana for a day to catch some rainbow trout and cook a few over a fire. As fishing and campfire cooking offer time for reflection, Steve takes the time to recall a few memorable MeatEater meals. From caveman style sheep ribs in the Alaska Range to curiosity-induced coyote BBQ in Mexico, these meals give Steve the chance to explore what it means to be a MeatEater.
