Petra has decided to stay in Australia and enjoy life as an ordinary teenager, however when the Berlin Ballet offers her a contract she has a difficult choice to make.
It is school camp time and Tara is ostracised by her friends and further humiliated when photos of her and Christian kissing keep appearing everywhere. Tensions culminate in a fight between Kat and Tara.
Kat is upset when her parent's ignore her 16th birthday and throws herself a huge party at their harbour front home as revenge. However chaos soon reigns when Tara spies Kat kissing Christian and realizes she can't ignore her own feelings.
Petra Hoffman arrives at the Academy on exchange from the Berlin Ballet School. Homesick, she adopts a lost dog and attempts to conceal him in the Boarding House. Kat has been ditching class to spend time with her new boyfriend.
Tara returns from the holidays excited to have been awarded the first year scholarship. However, this soon turns to disappointment when Kat leaves her standing alone outside a warehouse party the night before their first ballet class.
When OLIVIA rings AMBER about a surprise waiting at home for her, AMBER would never have guessed that the surprise was her Dad KEITH!

Murray and Burke are inconsolable: their pal Danny the octopus has disappeared! By chance, Cleo finds out that he's in fact been captured by the Oceanic Center, who are conducting scientific research. Murray puts pressure on the mermaids to get Danny out of there and bring him back to the sea. But Danny doesn't want to go home.
When Emma, Cleo and Rikki find out two superstars – Brad Patinson and Scarlett Belladonna - are shooting a film in Dolphin City, directed by the famous Martin Fabiola, they try anything to get on the set. Luckily Zane has been hired by the production! Only Rikki prefers to approach the stars in her own way – underwater of course!
In the aftermath of a violent storm, Dolphin City looks like a new Bermuda Triangle: boats mysteriously break down or sink in the bay. At the sight of hordes of journalists, the girls investigate, with Lewis' help. They find out that a lightning bolt from the storm has activated mysterious crystals whose magnetic field disrupts navigation equipment.
More and more plastic bags are polluting Dolphin City Bay, and the turtles mistake the bags for sea-sponges and suffocate on them. Our three mermaids, alerted by their friend Teddy the turtle, tackle the problem. After some unsuccessful attempts, they and Lewis decide to use stronger methods to stir up public opinion.
Emma loses her mermaid nature and her powers after touching some mysterious blue seaweed. Remembering what it's like being “normal” - she used to be a passionate swimmer - she rejoins the synchronized swimming team, which is preparing a show for the Summer Solstice Festival.

Realising that Saskia's continuing critique of her dancing could jeopardise her mid-year exams, Tara takes action, while Christian ditches his pas de deux exam to hang out with Kat. Wired on energy drinks, an overtired Sammy kids himself that he's blitzing exams, and puts Abigail in danger as a result.
Tara's concern about the time she spends with Christian impacting her dance study leads to her to suggest they ‘pause' their relationship, and Ben tries to impress Kat through an ambitious choreography assignment. Meanwhile Grace has cause to be jealous when Abigail and Ethan continue to work closely together.
Sammy's little brother Ari arrives at the Academy, throwing Sammy's hectic schedule into havoc and Kat auditions to be a football cheerleader, happily encouraged by Ben. Meanwhile Tara is having self esteem issues when it comes to the looks department.
Ethan clashes with Abigail in his attempt to create a spectacular dance performance for Showcase, while Tara finds it hard to compete with Christian's old friend Kaylah.
Tara's overjoyed when Company starlet Saskia Duncan is appointed to teach the Academy Second Years and Ethan rebels against Sebastian's suppression of his choreography skills.
Kat's struggle to find friends at normal school brightens when she's able to choreograph a project for drama class, while an exuberant first year, Ben Tickle, is elevated into Second Year and eagerly seeks new friends.
