Mistaking it for Gwanghae's test, Jeongi sneaks into the Bunwon storeroom to choose pottery, only to be caught red-handed by Gangcheon. While confined, she finally realizes that the man she believed to be Gwanghae was actually someone else. As Jeongi tearfully confesses all the wrongs she has committed against him, Gwanghae listens with a quiet smile.
Reunited at last, Jeongi and Taedo recognize each other and share all that has happened. Taedo reluctantly lets Jeongi go as she sets her sights on the Bunwon workshop. Entering the Gongchogun selection exam, Jeongi is arrested and thrown into jail after being accused of attempting to cut down palace trees while searching for firewood. Desperate, she pleads with Gwanghae for help, insisting that she must become a master potter no matter what.
Jeongi accuses Gwanghae of stealing her jade belt, and as she tries to flee and leave him behind, she is seized once again by Gwanghae. Forced to wander with their wrists bound together, the two soon find themselves in grave danger. Jeongi clings to Euldam, sobbing and begging him not to go, while the wounded Taedo fumes in frustration after seeing an assassin vanish into the darkness. Seeking out Hwa-ryeong, Jeongi travels to the merchant guild, where she comes face to face with Gangcheon. She boldly asks whether he will apologize for humiliating Euldam once she becomes the greatest master potter in Joseon.
Determined to prove that the sacred jar of King Taejo was deliberately broken, Gangcheon drops the vessel onto the floor. As King Seonjo erupts in fury, Gwanghae steps forward and claims full responsibility for the act. King Seonjo immediately orders Euldam's arrest. Tormented by the shattered fragments of the sacred jar of King Taejo, Gwanghae seeks out Son Haengsu. Recognizing him, Hwa-ryeong urges Gwanghae to meet Jeongi, and he is stunned to learn that she is Euldam's daughter. When Jeongi falls from her horse and lands in Gwanghae's arms, she panics and struggles in surprise—only for them both to tumble to the ground.
Kang Chi visits Monk So Jung, saying he wants to find the Gu Family Book so he can grow old with Yeo Wool. So Jung reveals their fate: one of them must die. Kang Chi is shocked. Meanwhile, Tae Seo is captured and taken to Jo Gwan Woong.
Gu Wol Ryung, unable to remember his past, attacks Kang Chi. Ja Hong Myung is tormented as she watches the fight between her half-beast son and the divine beast Wol Ryung. Later, Ja Hong Myung takes refuge at the school and meets Yi Sun Shin.
Gu Wol Ryung suffers as a thousand-year demon. Jo Gwan Woong tells him Seo Hwa is the cause of all his misery and proposes a deal. Meanwhile, Dam Pyung Joon tells Kang Chi to remove his bracelet and defeat him in a real sword fight.
Ja Hong Myung is shocked to realize Kang Chi is her son. However, despite Jo Gwan Woong's persistent questioning, she pretends not to know Kang Chi. Meanwhile, Yeo Wool seeks out Bong Chool to find a way to rescue Kang Chi.
Kang Chi, chased by ninjas, accidentally enters a room and confronts Ja Hong Myung. She is impressed by him but soon orders him to be captured, even if it means killing him. Meanwhile, Chung Jo asks Yeo Wool if she knows that Dam Pyung Joon killed Kang Chi's father.
To find the suddenly vanished Yeo Wool, Kang Chi seeks out Wol Ryung in the forest. Kang Chi begins to fight Wol Ryung to save her. Meanwhile, Ja Hong Myung meets with Jo Gwan Woong, stating she wishes to buy one of his properties.
Gu Wol Ryung appears at the school and tells Kang Chi to give up on becoming human. After Wol Ryung attacks and vanishes, the school members mistake him for Kang Chi. Meanwhile, Ja Hong Myung summons Tae Seo and asks if he is one of Jo Gwan Woong's men.
Kang Chi is asked by Tae Seo to rescue Chung Jo. He worries about how Chung Jo will react to his half-beast nature. Yeo Wool comforts him, saying he is still Choi Kang Chi, regardless of his appearance. Meanwhile, the Hundred Year Inn staff hear that Chung Jo is to spend the night with Jo Gwan Woong.
