Sarvar Karimov

Sarvar Karimov (born June 30, 1986, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan) is an Uzbek film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor known for his contributions to modern Uzbek cinema. After studying at the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts, Karimov began developing his career as a filmmaker and later became a production director at Uzbekfilm, one of the country's leading film studios. He became recognized among Uzbek audiences through films such as Sehrli qalpoqcha, Sariq devni minib, Yo‘qotilgan vaqt, and Sarvqomat dilbarim. His adaptation of Chingiz Aitmatov’s famous story Sarvqomat dilbarim brought renewed attention to his work and demonstrated his interest in literary-based storytelling. As a filmmaker, Karimov is known for exploring themes of human relationships, emotions, and social issues. His 2025 drama Farz became one of his most notable recent works, featuring acclaimed Uzbek actors Matyoqub Matchanov, Tohir Saidov, and Sayyora Yunusova. The film focuses on the fate of a person facing injustice and the struggle for truth and dignity. Through his work as a director, writer, producer, and actor, Sarvar Karimov continues to represent a new generation of Uzbek filmmakers, combining national storytelling traditions with contemporary cinematic approaches.
